the medicine cat swallowed a little and sniffed timidly at the air -- the smell of another cat was on the wind. it ruffled through his fur, running along the multiple burn scars on his back, soothing the gray and tough skin that remained. vaguely, he wondered if he should turn to meet the new face, but fear gripped his chest and rendered him speechless. he tried his best to take a few shaky breaths before finally peeking over his shoulder. his jade eyes were flashing with fear, his tail already starting to fluff and ruffle to show his agitation. oh, he was no good with company. "he-he-he-hello...?" he mewled timidly, his ears stuck to the back of his head.[/div] ashheart of windclan credit to moo for the code & jori for the image [/style]

walking in the camp while cats were asleep was risky. for her atleast. she would never fail at stepping on one's paw, tail, or the occasional face. she hated to do it, but she was so restless, nothing could stop her from getting out of camp. snickering to herself she thought, someone is bound to think i'm a shadowclan cat! loveing the sound of a terrified kit must be cruel, but it was amusing to watch. she had better not tell that to a queen...
spiritwind walked along, not thinking there was another cat about, but saw the amber flash of its eyes. "he-he-he-hello...?" she stopped and gazed back, trying to register who it was in the darkness. timid. large. stammering. It was ashheart. flicking her ears in a little bit of annoyance, she padded over to him, just wanting to get this over with. sure, two anti-social cats making conversation. this'll work... she sighed, not knowing what else to say. "Good evening, ashheart. What keeps you up so late?"

"i-i'm always u-up th-this late... er... early... i-i'll b-be getting m-my h-herbs together in a f-few moments... w-what a-about you? y-you ne-need your r-rest for h-hunting, no?" spiritwind tried so desperatly not to roll her eyes at the nervous wreck of her medicine cat. she sat down, carful to avoide one of the sleeping cat's paws before she settled. should i do the nice thing by helping him? i was going to go out for a little stroll... she flicked her ears, seeing if anyone else was awake, but couldn't hear anything. she didn't want to be caught by an apprentice helping the medicine cat, or it might seem like she was loosing her edge. "well, i woke up late today, and took a nap later on because there was no need for another hunting patrol with all the food, so i have plenty of energy."
she paused, wincing to herself on the inside. why am i doing this? why am i doing this? why am i doing this? but she couldn't hold it in. "would you like any help gathering herbs? i've got nothing else to do." she flicked her tail, placing it on ashhearts paw to seem like she cared.

"n-no, cherie, y-you d-don't need t-to d-do that... it-it's my job. y-you c-can help b-by s-staying a diligent w-warrior, and a-a w-warrior needs to f-focus o-on her tasks she's b-been given..." "b-besides, p-picking f-flowers doesn't s-seem to b-be h-high on y-your priority l-list, cherie," he commented with a tiny smile on his muzzle.[/div] ashheart of windclan credit to moo for the code & jori for the image [/style]

spritwind nodded to ashheart. "alright, ashheart. i will, but if you ever need anything from a warrior, i'll help." her eyes were calm, almost feeling bad for this tom. cherie? what in the name of starclan is a cherie? the name was unfamiliar to her, but she accepted it, thinking it must be some kind of compliment coming from a medicine cat.
what was wrong with her? she couldn't stop asking herself. it was very unlike her to be generous if she didn't have to. she stood up and shook her pelt clean of dirt or anything else that might have landed on it. spiritwind opened her bright green eyes and bore them into the amber (right?) ones of ashheart. loosing interest, she stood up and padded towards the exit of camp. she waved her tail in a little good-bye to ashheart, not looking back.

he was too lost in his thoughts to really notice her standing and leaving; a sudden look of sadness flashed in his eyes. he liked having company, no matter how silent or even resistant it was. "o-oh, w-w--" he paused, his ears flattening before he looked down. he needed to do something to keep her interest... maybe he could... "i-i h-h-have a d-different favor t-to a-ask of you..." he began quietly.[/div] ashheart of windclan credit to moo for the code & jori for the image [/style]

her ears flattened, as she was just about to exit camp what does this stuttering mouse-brain want now? spiritwind rolled her eyes before turning back to ashheart with soft eyes, not wanting to displease him or disappoint him. "yes, ashheart?" she padded silently back to him, again avoiding tails and paws of her windclan clanmates.
the darkness was beginning to lift, the little light becoming visible on the horizon line, shedding it's warmth on the clan cats. the starclan warriors ended their night hunting, as they disappeared from cat's dreams and bidding their good-byes. she looked up at the stars that were slowly padding back to their dens elsewhere.
